Tips to keep bones strong and healthy: -

The growth spurt occurs in preteens or teen years, and suddenly your height and overall bone skeleton increases in a year’s time and will result into weight increase.

To keep bones strong and healthy, teenagers should make sure to include plenty of calcium and vitamin D in their diets. Such as milk, yogurt, green leafy veggies, and getting some morning sunlight each day. Regular exercise such as running, jumping, skipping etc. also important for bone strength.

Can you guess what a bone is?

Bone is a remarkable composition of connective tissues and calcium salts. The connective tissues make bones more flexible and resilient, while calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate give rigidity. Together, these elements maintain bone strength. Bones possess significant regenerative capabilities but can also undergo disuse atrophy and overuse hypertrophy. A normal human skeleton consists of 206 bones and can be divided into axial skeleton (80) and appendicular skeleton (126).

The power to increase the length of a bone is concentrated in the cartilaginous epiphyseal plates located near each end of the bone. These plates are situated between the shaft of the bone. Preteens and teenagers may encounter various bone issues because of growth spurts, hormonal imbalance, physical activity.

Hello Teens, take the Oath!!!

“I solemnly swear to munch on cheese and yogurt, dance like nobody’s watching, soak up some sun, and skip smokes and sips, all in the name of strong and sturdy bones!

Bye. Bye, Teens
