An Art of Parenting TEENS for Father & Mother,
Early Adolescence period: Age Group 11 to14 Years.
1. | All parents should understand that your child is now going to face challenge of changes of PUBERTY very soon. Support him/her through love and care. Give time to open up communication channels for better understanding of each other. |
2. | Girls require special care and understanding during onset of their puberty; so parents, specially mother should inform daughter about Menarche/Menstruation periods. |
3. | Children may not ask, but parents should create an environment for the healthy discussion and impart information on changes of adolescence. Pubic hair, facial and body hair, pimples, height, breasts, voice, fat and curves,...... need to understand physical growth of various organs of body... outside as well as inside (ovary, falliopian tubes, uterus, cervix, scrotum, testicles, uretha.... urine and vaginal infacetion, skin diseases..), innerwears mainly bra selection is very important. |
Late Adolescence period: Age Group 14 to18 Years.
1. | Social and Emotional changes will change the behaviour of adolescents. Adolescents strive to seek acceptance among their age group. Parents can help them by becoming the best friend to them. |
2. | The looks will play an effect on their own thinking, so make them love their body; the way it is. Never criticise about any part of their body. |
3. | Let the adolescents look at the mirror, till they satisfy themselves. It will develop healthy relationship with their own self. Parents should remember their own teenage days. |
4. | TV viewing cannot be stopped, so better encourage to see good programme as well as parents can watch teenage programme to know their taste. |
5. | A balanced diet is needed to support the growth during puberty. Parents can cultivate healthy eating habits by practicing. Also encourage participation in sports and physical activities, which will enhance the self-confidence as well as develop good physique. |
6. | Exam and study stress to be reduced through adequate sleep and entertainment. |
Young Adult period: Age Group 19 to 22 Years.
